Why charge to join? People genuinely seeking friendship think £1 (less than $2) is worth it. Paying for anything on the internet worries me. We use Paypal but you don't need a Paypal account. They are a respected name for internet payments. What happens if I cancel my subscription? Your profile is moved to Guest level. Why can't I just see the members, then I know if it's worth joining? Members details are never shown on this front page, they are for fellow members only. I can't be bothered and don't have the time to join. Joining is very easy, maybe five minutes maximum. You don't have to add lots of tedious information, just non confidential basics such as age range and nearest city. You add a short profile ('we enjoy etc') which you can edit later. In that case if it's so easy don't you get problems? All profiles are checked before they are visible to other members. Any changes made later are also checked. A mail is sent upon approval. This is a genuine couples friendship site! Yes. If you are genuine about meeting other couples for friendship only, so are we! |

This article was compiled using professional input. Couple friends, why we need them. So why do we need friends? After all many people seem to get on just fine by themselves, 'enjoy their own company', as they say. But for most of us we need friends to help us to relax, have fun with and to gain a different perspective on life and relationships. This holds true for individuals and also for couples. To quote Augustine " health and friendship are the twin essentials of life" so good friends really do help. Old friends driving you crazy? It's not as bad as no friends at all! It is well known that men are less likely to have close friends than women, women are often the 'social secretaries' within the family, this makes 'couples friends' even more important for men because often they are the only friends they have. It's also very true that with couple friends the females must get on well with each other and the males must do the same. I wonder who is the most difficult to please? Form two orderly rows, men on one side, women on the other, point at the other row and shout 'they do'! As human beings we have lived together with other people for about as long as we have walked the Earth. The oldest well-dated Homo Sapiens skulls were found in Ethiopia and were estimated to be about 170,000 years old. This may be a drop in the ocean as far as the existence of planet Earth is concerned (over 4 billion years) but if you gave me 170,000 in cash I would consider that a lot, though 4 billion could be more useful. Nature decided we should form groups, nowadays called families, but we also tended to band together for security. Needing friends isn't new, it isn't even faintly unusual and its here to stay. So what to do? Happily technology is helping people to make new friendships and to maintain existing friendships, sometimes over great distances. The telephone is hardly an ideal form of communication but what was it like before it? In fact what was it like before cash machines, the iPod and the internet? The internet is like the whole world rolled into one. It's has very good bits and some pretty awful. So why trust it with finding new friends? If you are genuine about new friendships choose your internet site with care. Look at the facilities available, join and have a look around. Once you know the site you can soon discover if it's a 'real' friendship community. As with all things in life don't expect much for nothing, the quality remains long after the cost is forgotten. |
